As a new parent, there are many big decisions to be made. Nursing or formula? Cloth diapers or disposable? Homemade baby food or store-bought? Stroller or baby-wearing? Bassinet or crib? And of course, one of the biggest: sleepers with a zipper or sleepers with snaps?
The thing is that no parent really knows about this debate until they have a newborn baby. All of a sudden, middle-of-the-night diaper changes/leaks/explosions happen and you realize that you have overlooked a crucial aspect of parenting!
So you delve deeper into the topic and low and behold, there are very strong opinions on both sides of the debate. In fact, it's so controversial that there are even memes made about it!
The zipper advocates are adamant that snaps in the middle of the night are a hardship that should be avoided at all costs. No sleep-deprived parent wants to deal with snaps! And on the other side of the coin, the proponents of snap-up sleepers state that zipper pyjamas bunch up around their newborns' legs and bellies and irritate their necks. Plus if you have a premature baby who has a monitor or tube attached, snaps are a no-brainer to accommodate the wires.
Needless to say, there are pros and cons to both and big decisions to be made as a parent. So if you are pregnant, this should definitely be on the list of topics to discuss with your partner before giving birth. You don't want to find yourself dealing with a stuck zipper in the middle of the night because your husband insisted on dressing baby in zipper pyjamas and you don't want to wake up to your wife silently cursing you as she struggles to fasten a bunch of snaps evenly at 3 AM.
Whichever way you and your partner decide to go, we've got you covered for all of your baby clothing needs! And don't let the haters in the opposite sleeper fastening camp get you down. You do you, mama!
